From beauty to home remodel, we Americans are enthralled with the power of a good makeover. The folks at Consumer Reports have taken it in a different direction with their latest newsletter, which discusses the benefits of a fridge makeover. That’s right, organizing your refrigerator can actually mean the difference between a healthy diet routine and one that fails the minute you open the door.
The idea is to put the healthy foods front and center, so they are the first things you grab. Put all your fruit, carrot sticks, hard-boiled eggs and healthy snacks at eye level. The newsletter suggests storing your healthy nibbles in clear containers or bags. Put all the calorie-laden items – cheese, butter, and sweets – tucked away in the crisper. As they say out of sight, out of mind.
Another nice addition to your fridge is a glass pitcher filled with water and cut up citrus, mint, ginger or cucumbers. Not only will you stay hydrated, you’ll also feel like you are visiting a fancy spa. What’s more, it might remind you that many times you aren’t really hunger, but rather thirsty.
Do you have any healthy kitchen organizing tips that you’d like to share? We’d love to hear about them!
