Q-Veratrol Heart Antioxidant Ingredients
Black Tea and Green Tea Extracts, Theaflavin-enriched. Sources of flavenoids (polyphenols and catechins), antioxidant plant metabolites believed to reduce inflammation and trigger production of enzymes that fight disease. Research shows the polyphenols in green and black tea together support healthier LDL cholesterol levels.
Body-ready Coenzyme Q10 (KanekaQH™ ubiquinol). Necessary for basic cell function and critical for energy production by the cell’s mitochondria. Naturally occurring levels decline with age and the use of certain prescription drugs. Ubiquinol is a reduced form, eight times more absorbable than ubquinone, the more common oxidized CoQ10 form. CoQ10 acts as an antioxidant, supporting the high-energy requirements of heart-cell mitochondria and protecting cellular components. It also recycles and refreshes vitamin E.
Folic Acid and Vitamin B12.Two vitamins that support heart and vascular health by keeping homocysteine levels in check. High homocysteine levels are believed to increase the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, arterial damage and blood vessel blockages. Folic acid is also necessary for producing and maintaining new cells generally, B12 for nerve cells and red blood cells specifically. Age-related deficiencies are common.
Grape Seed and Japanese Knotweed Extracts (sources of Resveratrol). Polyphenols believed to reduce oxidation, inflammation and resulting mitochondrial damage, improving heart cell and muscle health. In experiments with yeast cells, fruit flies and rodents, resveratrol has mimicked the life-extending results of caloric restriction. Anecdotal evidence supports the same effect for humans. Resveratrol is also believed to help breakdown fat for energy and counteract free radicals in water and fat areas of cells.
N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC). An amino acid that helps lower homocysteine levels in the blood. (See folic acid and vitamin B12.) NAC also seems to boost immune response and is involved in making Glutathione (GSH), one of the most important antioxidants in the body.
Quercetin Dihydrate. A flavenoid that acts as an anti-inflammatory. It triggers genes that make the enzymes involved in producing antioxidants and detoxifying agents. Studies indicate it may also promote better resveratrol absorption and healthier cholesterol levels.
Vitamin D3. The active form of Vitamin D that, at higher dosage, is believed to help regulate the immune system, enhance HDL (good) cholesterol and maintain a healthier cardiovascular system. It may also positively affect aortic valve disorders. Additionally, this vitamin has been shown to regulate levels of calcium and phosphorus in the body, helping to promote bone growth and maintain bone density.
Wild Blueberry Extract. A source of the compound pterostilbene, which may, according to recent findings, support healthier cholesterol levels, help regulate blood pressure and combat atherosclerosis. Ongoing studies indicate the polyphenol-rich fruit also fights oxidative stress and has anti-inflammatory properties.
